Hoʻomaluhia Community Land Trust (HCLT)
We need $1.5M to place 5 units from our Kauhale O Kalaheo into the HCLT.
We are actively raising funds to place 15 homes across Kauaʻi — in Kīlauea, Kapaʻa, and Kalāheo — into the Ho‘omaluhia Community Land Trust (HCLT). By separating ownership of the land from the homes and offering them as leasehold, we ensure these homes remain permanently affordable for local families, generation after generation.
This model does more than create homeownership opportunities. It protects Kauaʻi’s limited housing supply, keeps homes within reach for our community, and ensures that every dollar invested continues to serve local families far into the future.
Thanks to the generosity of the Priscilla Chan & Mark Zuckerberg Initiative and the Weinberg Foundation, we have already secured funding to place 10 of these 15 homes into the land trust — including all homes at Kauhale O Nāmahana, all homes at Kauhale O Waipouli, and one home at Kauhale O Kalāheo.
Now, we are working to raise $1.5 million to secure the final 5 homes at Kauhale O Kalāheo.
These final homes represent more than a funding gap — they are the difference between homes that remain affordable forever, and homes that could be lost to the open market.
